Abstract

The article addresses a pressing scientific issue – the support of students’ mental health during wartime through the development and purposeful cultivation of psychological resilience. Given the complex socio-political situation accompanied by ongoing stressors, psychological resilience is regarded as a key resource for maintaining students' psychological well-being.Based on an analysis of contemporary scientific approaches, the conceptual framework of resilience is clarified, and its structure, core functions, and psychological mechanisms activated in conditions of crisis and traumatic events are described. The article substantiates the specifics of students’ mental health, identifying its main characteristics, assessment criteria, and risk factors within the context of war. It is demonstrated that student youth, as a distinct age and social group, is particularly vulnerable to prolonged stressors and therefore requires effective psychological support. The empirical part of the research includes an analysis of mental health levels among students studying under martial law, followed by a psychological interpretation of the results. Correlational links between the level of resilience and the state of mental health are identified, enabling conclusions about the protective role of this phenomenon. Furthermore, methodological recommendations are proposed for practicing psychologists, educators, and representatives of the educational sector on implementing resilience-building programs as effective tools for preserving students’ mental health in wartime conditions. Special attention is devoted to psychological technologies for developing resilience, involving the integration of cognitive-behavioral, emotional-regulatory, and motivational components. The importance of an interdisciplinary approach to solving the issue of mental health is emphasized, as is the need to establish a stable system of psycho-emotional support for students within Ukrainian higher education institutions.
