DETERMINATION OF THE NEEDS OF THE POPULATION FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC MANAGEMENT OF REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY (BASED ON THE AUTHOR'S SOCIOLOGICAL SURVEY)

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to determine the needs of the population for the implementation of public management of regional environmental policy (based on the author's sociological survey). An author's sociological survey was conducted to determine the attitude of the population to the problems of overcoming environmental threats in the Dnipropetrovsk region, in which 365 people participated. The survey revealed that for the majority of respondents, overcoming their economic problems and social security is more important. It was found that the level of environmental awareness of the surveyed respondents depends directly on their general level of education, and in this sense, people with higher education are more “aware” than people with secondary education. The conclusion drawn on the basis of the conducted sociological survey confirmed a number of hypotheses that were put forward before its implementation, namely: first, environmental needs (with the exception of the needs to avoid harmful radiation effects caused by Russian military aggression) are secondary for individuals and are not their highest social priorities; second, overcoming environmental problems by respondents is mainly associated with the implementation of national policies, as well as policies of international cooperation to overcome external threats posed to Ukraine; third, the presence of awareness of the links between the state of the natural environment and the state of health, and the justification of the need for compensation for people living in unfavorable regions; Fourthly, overcoming environmental problems depends on a high level of awareness of the right holder, his responsible attitude to the use of natural resources.
