Abstract

This article explores the interdependence of personal characteristics of medical students and their manifestations of internet addiction. The authors analyze various aspects of personality, such as propensity for critical thinking, level of academic abilities, level of frustration, variability, and plasticity, and establish their relationship with manifestations of internet addiction. The study also examines other personality characteristics, such as independence, suspicion, practicality, and social accuracy, and their influence on internet addiction. It is noted that the personality of a medical student, in the current time frame, can be influenced by both types of stressors and may be more prone than ever to excessive consumption of social media and internet resources as a manifestation of defense mechanisms. It is analyzed that medical students have different personality traits that can influence their behavior and perception of information. Additionally, factors of emotional stability and instability may vary among students, and this can affect their level of frustration and emotional resilience, which is related to internet addiction. It is observed that students with high levels of stress reactions are prone to addictive behavior, particularly internet addiction. The data also suggests that students use the internet as a form of escape or self-defense from adverse life events. The conclusion is drawn that the level of psychoemotional tension and the presence of stress factors in the process of individual's active activities correlate with a high level of manifestation of internet addiction. Further consideration of this problem involves the development of educational programs and methods to ensure effective learning and minimize the manifestations of addictive behavior among medical students.
