THE STUDIES OF STUDENT’S PROPENSITY TO DEVIANT BEHAVIOR

The article under discussion presents the results of studying secondary school student’s propensity to deviant behavior. In this regard, the article articulates the problem under studies, points out the basic directions of its investigation from the points of view of different scholars, identifies the latters’ role in researching the issue, describes the methods applied in diagnosing students’ propensity to various types of deviant behavior, as well as explains the principle of processing the obtained results in accordance with the respective scales and gives respondents’ short characteristics. The data, obtained in the course of the research, are presented in compliance with different methodical scales: orientation to socially desirable answers, propensity to violating norms and rules, propensity to addictive behavior, predisposition to self-damage and self-destruction, predisposition to aggression and violence, will control of emotional reactions, propensity to delinquent conduct. What is more, based on the principle of comparative analysis, the results of the research have been classified with regard to the type of the grade the students belong to and their sex. In this way the most typical types of students’ deviations have been determined. Conclusions of the paper contain the percentage of the students with propensity to deviant behavior from the overall number of the respondents; show, in which grades they are mostly concentrated; describe the most common manifestations of deviations among the students of the 5–10th grades; explain the peculiarities of various types of deviations in accordance with the following scales: orientation to socially desirable answers, propensity to violating norms and rules, propensity to addictive behavior, predisposition to self-damage and self-destruction, predisposition to aggression and violence, will control of emotional reactions, propensity to delinquent conduct. In addition, the authors of the article have outlined the prospects of further investigation of the issue under studies in the aspect of value preferences among the students with behavioral deviations.
